Some of you may know that dotGif owes its inception to Coventry University, and the Creative Computing department; we have quite a few close ties to the place, both personally and through the comic. While I may not actually know most of the people reading this, I’m lead to believe that many of our readers will be students or staff from Coventry.
Last year, while the comic was still in its infancy, we were graciously given an opportunity to display one of our comics at ‘The Directors Cut‘ , a film show held by the CC departments final-endgame-boss, Peter Every, during the video that was played. (The comic was Java Vs. Javascript).
This year, we have been invited back to the film show - Smoke & Mirrors, and we have a fun surprise planned. The comic due on Friday 30th April, unlike our normal comics, will not be made on the evening of Thursday 29th. Yes folks, we’re talking real-life comic, made by real-life person, in real-life. Doesn’t get much more real than this.
In the likely possibility that I was very unclear there – I will be drawing the comic live.
As for the ability for you to attend: while I don’t know if its a complete free-for-all, I do know the actual film show will be limited to ~150 seats. The showcase event, however, completely open to students from Coventry. More information can be found on the event’s website.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing you there.
